Dr. Gopal Poojary is a seasoned practitioner and an expert in natural healing, promoting wellness through traditional Indian healthcare systems. He has an extensive experience of 28+ years in combining research, clinical practice, and global advocacy to advance the understanding and acceptance of yoga and naturopathy worldwide. Currently he is working as a Chief Medical Officer at SDM Yoga and nature cure hospital, Sowkhyavana, Pareeka
Dr. Poojary represented the Indian government as an Ayush Medicine Expert in Indian Cultural Centres (ICC), Indian Embassies in Tashkent (Uzbekistan), Seoul (South Korea), and Georgetown (British Guiana), South America, promoting traditional Indian healthcare systems (yoga and naturopathy) in cultural and diplomatic missions abroad on a global platform, serving as a key ambassador of Yoga and Naturopathy. He has conducted workshops, seminars, and individual consultations to enhance global awareness and adoption of holistic health practices. He was also collaborated with local healthcare organizations and cultural bodies to implement wellness programs and foster cross-cultural health initiatives.
Dr. Gopal Poojary has served as a medical officer at prestigious Jindal nature cure hospital playing a key role in guiding patients through personalized wellness plans, addressing chronic illnesses and lifestyle disorders.
He was a research fellow in physiology department at All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi, India and was actively involved in two pioneering research projects. He has studied the efficacy of yoga and biofeedback in treating Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) and explored the impact of yogic relaxation techniques in managing ulcerative colitis. His published findings have contributed to the growing scientific evidence supporting yoga as a complementary therapy for gastrointestinal disorders.
He is also an active member of Indian Naturopathy Yoga Graduate’s Medical Association (INYGMA), New Delhi.
Scientific Contributions
2005: Presented a paper in the workshop on research methodology in naturopathy and yoga at a workshop conducted by the World Health Organization (WHO) in New Delhi.
2005: Presented a scientific paper, "Effect of Different Nostril Breathing (Pranayama) on Heart Rate Variability", at the Golden Jubilee Conference of the Association of Physiology and Pharmacology of India, organized by NIMHANS, Bangalore.
2001: Participated in an orientation program for practicing naturopaths at Pune, organized by the National Institute of Naturopathy (NIN), Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India.
